Before you can install IPTV apps on your Fire Stick, you need to enable apps from unknown sources. On many devices the Developer Options menu is hidden — here is how to reveal it and switch everything on.
Step 1: Reveal Developer Options (if hidden)
If you cannot see Developer Options in your settings, here is the trick to make it appear:
Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About
From your Fire Stick home screen, open Settings (the cog icon at the top), select My Fire TV (or Device & Software on some models), then tap About.
Find your device name
In the About screen you will see your device name (for example, Fire TV Stick 4K). Highlight it.
Click it seven times
Press the select button on your remote 7 times on your device name. After a few clicks a countdown appears, then a message saying "You are now a developer". Developer Options now shows in the My Fire TV menu.
Step 2: Enable Apps from Unknown Sources
Open Developer Options
Go back to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options.
Turn on unknown sources
Select Apps from Unknown Sources and switch it to ON. On newer Fire Sticks, select Install Unknown Apps, find the Downloader app and toggle it on.
Confirm the warning
A security warning appears — tap Turn On. You can now install any IPTV app using the Downloader app.
💡 Safe to do: Enabling unknown sources simply allows apps that are not in the Amazon Appstore. It does not change any other security settings and you can turn it off again after installing your IPTV app.
Next Step: Install Your IPTV App
Now you are ready to install IBO Player Pro or IPTV Smarters. See our IBO Player install guide — it uses Downloader code 481220 and takes under two minutes.
Quick recap
- Settings → My Fire TV → About → click device name 7 times
- Developer Options now appears
- Select Apps from Unknown Sources → ON
- Enable for the Downloader app specifically on newer models
- You are ready to install IPTV apps
